Since Leighton and I got married and he moved in, we've been spending our days together. He took some time off work and whilst Ben's been at school, we've been building our skills and getting ready to go back to work and get loads of promotions!
We need lots more money to finish building our house, as you can see, work has started but it's nowhere near inhabitable yet! The builders are mainly focusing on the one main room at the moment so we can move out of our hut. There are some seriously big scale plans for the finished house but I don't think that'll be done in my lifetime, and perhaps not even Bens! It will have to be done slowly, in stages, when we have the money.
Our savings are not exactly going to be helped by the fact that I'm pregnant all over again. It feels like forever since I've been to work and I really miss it, they're making me take more maternity leave so no chance I'll be back anytime soon. Luckily Leighton is pleased about the baby and has gone back to work to help bring in some extra cash.
The builders were very clever, they've used mostly recycled timber and things so we've saved quite a bit of money and have finished the house! Well the first room of the house, which, is our whole house for now. There is free wood for the floor and free panelling for the walls and the windows and doors are from our old hut which has now been demolished.
The builders sectioned off an area for a bathroom so we wouldn't all have to leave the house every time someone needed the loo, in this picture, it's not quite finished as you can see, half the wall's missing! We even had enough money left over to treat ourselves to a television!
And finally, I have to tell you that Ben is looking forward to having a little brother or sister. He'd like a brother of course, all boys would, but he's said he'll settle for a sister if that's what comes. He's always listening to the little gurgles and feeling the kicks of his little sibling. It makes me happy to see him so keen, I wasn't sure how he'd take the news. I'm kind of hoping for another boy too, I've never been a girly girl and Leighton says he's overjoyed whatever the outcome. We'll all have to wait and see. |
